Rockband Rocks

Hello!
This past weekend, I visited my best friend who lives in Northern VA.  One thing she would not and could not stop talking about was Rockband.  Her cousin brought it over, and she instantly became obsessed.  She said it was amazing, and I didn't doubt her one bit, because I'm quite the fan of guitarhero as it is.  We played, and it really IS amazing!!  My favorite thing to do is vocals, and I really like guitar too--BUT i cannot play the drums to save my life! Overall though, the game is super fun--not to mention super addicting! You get to pick your character and their outfit, and you can buy new outfits after you make money by having shows!  It is just a really well thought out game, and if you haven't played it, GO ROCK NOW!

Have a Rockin' Week!!

I know something important is happening this week...what was it again??

No, it is not the next episode of Gossip Girl to which I am hinting with my title.  (Though, I will admit, I am quite excited to see what unfolds between Jenny and Nate...).  Then, what could it be? Hmm.....Oh, I know!  Possibly one of the most important days in the United States...You know, the day that always falls on the first Tuesday after the first Monday of November every 2 or 4 years...

Did you not follow my sub-par lingo that I unburied from the remnants of my high school Government class memories?  If you didn't, let me be a bit more abrupt: DUH--its ELECTION DAY!!  And it isn't only a House and/or Senate election day (not that electing members of the House and Senate is not important...) it is a PRESIDENTIAL election day!  (If you didn't know this by now, it is time to read a magazine, a newspaper, CNN.com, or SOMETHING because you are out of the loop!!)

That's right--the big day that has been discussed and debated since, well, the last Presidential Election (or at least Inauguration Day) has finally arrived.  With the economy in the toilet, and the troops still overseas, this is a big'un!!  But before you can have an election, you need candidates...

For the Democrats: Who would be the candidate?
Would it be John Edwards?  Would it be Hillary Clinton?  No for John (oops--scandals put some taint on his name!!) And no for Hillary too--she pulled out (hoping to receive a spot on Obama's ticket as VP...sorry Hillary, better luck next time, dear).  Who else was left?  You guessed it!  Senator Barrack Obama from Illinois was chosen as the Democratic Presidential Candidate.  And, since Hillary was not the one chosen to complete the blue ticket, then who would be?  Does "Joe Biden" ring a bell? Obama chose Delaware's Senator Joe Biden, who has been in the Senate since 1972!!  Can you say experienced?

FOR THE BLUE TICKET:

OBAMA*BIDEN 2008

For the Republicans: Who would be the candidate?
Would it be Mitt Romney from Massachusetts?  Or perhaps Mike Huckabee from Arkansas?  No luck for either...but who then?  You guessed it--McCain!  Senator John McCain swept the Republican primaries accumulating over 47% of the votes!!  Looks like Romney and Huckabee didn't quite stand a chance... Next, somewhat from left field as far as I am aware, McCain chose Alaska's Governor Sarah "Barracuda" Palin to be his running mate.  [I do not know enough about Palin or her stint as governor to comment on that...(I also want to remain as unbiased as possible) but I do know that Tina Fey does a hilarious impression, and if you have not seen it, you should get on youtube.com immediately!]

AND FOR THE RED TICKET:

McCAIN*PALIN 2008

And though many have already voted absentee (including myself :) ) come Tuesday, it will truly be a showdown!  I personally cannot WAIT to see the results!  It is the first Presidential Election in which I could vote, which makes it even more exciting for me!

I cannot wait to see the results, and hear who will be our country's leader for the next four years!  Though they will never know it, I wish both candidates luck, and may the best man win!

Surfing the Web

When studying for mid-terms until 4-5 a.m. in the morning, one needs to allow breaks to chill out the enivitable caffeine shakes and release some pressure off of the head. When I take breaks from my mid-terms, I end up in a state of procrastination. I have a couple of different websites (minus the obvious facebook) I check periodically for updates.
One piece of treasure I recently found is the website: foundmagazine.com
If you enjoy people-watching and have a natural sense of curiousity then this is the site for you. The website posts notes and pictures found randomly on the streets; which are sometimes funny, thought provoking, and sad. This website for me will end up to about an hour of procastination... so unless you have a lot of procastination time, then do not visit this site.
The seond procastination website is stuffwhitepeoplelike.com
Warning: do not visit this website unless you have a sense of humor. They do not update it as regularly as I would like, so this only totals up to about 10 minutes of procastination time.
The third procastination website I must visit is perezhilton.com
I don't know what it is about the website, possibly the pink background, but I check it several times a day to read about people I will never meet. Depending on the last time I checked it, this procastination time can take up to 30 minutes or more in some cases.
Happy procastinating

Project Runway Finale

Hello all!

I honestly was surprised with the outcome of Project Runway Season 5!!  I did not foresee Leanne winning, and thought that Korto had it in the bag.  I personally loved Korto's collection.  She was innovative without being too outlandish.  I did not think her pieces looked "overworked," but that was a consistent critique of her clothes, even before Bryant Park.  I also loved how she based her collection on her ethnic roots.  It allowed her pieces to come from a perspective unique to those of the other designers.

I also thought that Kenley did a great job.  She truly expressed her point of view throughout her collection, and the hand-painted clothes were phenomenal!  However, Michael Kors mentioned multiple times that her designs resembled those of famous designers.  If she is not up to date with the world of fashion, she can not succeed with originality.  But I do think Kenley will make it in the fashion industry in some way.

The pieces in Leanne's collection were definitely executed with precision.  She also truly expressed her point of view, and was unique in this point of view.  She was praised for the sophistication of her line, and how she incorporated her inspiration of waves into each piece.  I am definitely interested to see what Leanne has to offer in the future, because I do appreciate her aesthetic as a designer.

As you know in fashion, one day you're in, and the next day you're out.

Project Runway!

Hey all!

Who is excited for the finale of Project Runway?!  This show never disappoints me, and I am constantly and consistently surprised by the designs, who gets kicked off, and what the judges have to say!  Michael Kors is my favorite judge by far.  I almost always agree with his opinion, and I appreciate how he doesn't act too high and mighty (being the successful designer that he is!).  However, my absolute favorite person on the show is TIM GUNN!  Tim is always dressed to the  nines from head to toe, and has such a cute personality.  He is so genuine to the designers, and just an overall nice guy.

As for this past weeks episode...
I was shocked that Jarell went home.  I personally loved his wedding gown, though I wish he had taken Tim's critique seriously about tacking the bust of the dress.  His design was sooo elaborate and unique, and would make whoever wore it feel like a queen!!  I did not think his Bridesmaid's dress was as bad as the judges expressed either.  Prior to the episode, I thought it would be Jarell who would go all the way and win!!  But, this week's episode should definitely prove to be just as exciting as last week's!!

On another note, I definitely think that Kenley made a major comeback after that horrible excuse for an evening gown that she created two episodes ago.  Her collection looks like its going to be fabulous!!!!  And that wedding dress...priceless!!

I'm on pins and needles.
